About The Show
Fushu Daiko - South Florida's original taiko drum ensemble – presents Spirit Drummers, an original adaptation of a famous Japanese legend of the origins of Gojinjo Taiko: Demon Drummers of Nabune.
The unarmed people of Nabune village used creative means to boldly defend themselves from marauding Samarai in 1576.
The audience will be led through the events via narrators, while Fushu Daiko performers play taiko drums, bamboo flutes, gong, and koto (Japanese harp) music that correlates to the story. They will conjure up seaside life, danger on the horizon, a brave village working together in creative frenzy to fulfill their plan, the epic and dangerous confrontation, and the celebration of success.
The music of Spirit Drummers will consist of original Fushu Daiko compositions, as well as traditional style/rhythms of the Noto area taiko drumming (kiriko style of taiko).
